The Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) standard describes a domain model and a set of bindings that comprise Web Services and RESTful AtomPub which are used for applications to work with various content management repositories/systems. Apache Chemistry OpenCMIS is a set of Java libraries, frameworks and tools about the CMIS specification. Using CMIS, developers can create solutions that will work for compound repositories and consumers get less vendor lock-in and subordinate switching costs.
